A comment on the question "Discontinuing Simple Pleasures?" in Tide:

I could NOT believe my tired eyeballs!! That's why I had to take the picture (I hope Tide doesn't sue me for copyright infringement). So, I have about 10 hoarded bottles and if ANYONE wants some, I'd be happy to pour it into secure bottles and share it, for free, I'm serious, that's how much I believe people should still have this when they really need to be comforted by its scent, even if just for a few loads. – Lia, on November 07, 2009 01:02

I just bought 8 more bottles of the detergent at $2.50 a bottle. Happy but bittersweet!

Oh gross, I just smelled the new scents in the Simple Pleasures line - Black Orchid, and some Spice scent....really, really awful.

Carol! Yes, my sister in laundry!! I swear, last night I was dealing with a stomach virus that has been going around and to have the towels and sheets comfort me with the scent, there is something to be said for aromatherapy. I find it odd that there is a lavender scent at all if the vanilla/lavender version was supposedly a bad seller.. how was this concluded? Test groups? Thanks Mandy for the reassurance, we know you're just the messenger.. :)

I wonder if we should ditch Tide's site and start supporting Gain's or Walmart's or others that actually make a similar scent?

Last night after a couple Manhattans I went to the CVS to get some cat food. For the cat. I went down the laundry aisle by chance and was stopped dead in my tracks by a whole new row of Tide 2x Vanilla Lavender detergent (in my avatar). I almost had a heart attack. It was dated back to 2007, but where did this supply come from? I couldn't buy the whole row, but I got a few. Incidentally, the cat enjoys this detergent immensely. He has allergies and I can't wear perfume around him, so it's not just our species that has a love affair with this scent!

The other day, about 20 miles away from where I live, I found one, lone bottle of detergent. I bum-rushed it like a junkie getting a fix! It was actually even on sale, but that didn't make me feel any better.

Don't be fooled by the new bottle and boxes of softener, they're a bit darker and I think they're just lavender sent, but they look almost identical.

Thanks for the contact info, I will definitely write and suggest that my friends do so as well. I found one bottle of detergent today and two boxes of dryer sheets!!

I have several male friends who use it because it's not too flowery and overpowering, so Tide is really upsetting the male and female fanbase.

Hmmm...that's a good thing about Gain..I'd definitely switch. I always remember the other scents in the SImple Pleasures line never being bought, and the Vanilla Lavender was always running low, so I don't understand this. I also am not too happy that Tide has marked this question as answered. It's not really a satisfying answer.

I'd take any form of it and use non-scented detergent or softener or whatever to get just the scent of the Vanilla Lavender in my washables. I wonder if there's a lab that can reproduce the scent and we can add it to an unscented detergent/softener!! See how desperate I am?!

Mandy! Say it ain't so! I've been searching all grocery stores, drugstores, Targets, etc. to find my favorite detergent EVER! I'm 38 and have been in charge of laundry since it was a chore of mine as a child and this is by far the most pleasant and lovely scent I have ever used. Amethyst Mist nor the others do not compare. Everyone who uses my towels or borrows clothes remarks and asks me what I'm using and then they purchase it. Please tell me this is a "New Coke" type strategy and that Tide will reissue this in all forms. I'm starting to horde my stash! I actually have thought and been told this scent would make a super perfume/body products line.
