Discontinuing Simple Pleasures?
Are they discontinuing the Simple Pleasures/ Vanilla & Lavender? I can only find it in one store near where I live! I have bought as many of them from that store, as I could! If something is going to be discontinued, shouldn't we be told of that!

Inappropriate?I miss the Simple Pleasures line. I just dug out pants from last summer that still smell like lavendar and vanilla and now I kind of want to kick my inadequate replacement detergent.

Inappropriate?I hate everything else I've tried. Now my clothes stink, at least to me they do, since those idiots stopped making Simple Pleasures Lavendar and Vanilla. Nothing can compare to Simple Pleasures detergent. The Downy Simple Pleasures Lavendar and Vanilla does NOT go with any other detergent. Tide you now suck. I wish those idiots would get a clue and bring Tide Simple Pleasures back.
I’m Very Sad.

Inappropriate?I notice they have archived all of this so I wonder if anyone is even reading it anymore. What I find really odd is why they discontinued it. I feel there must have been something wrong with it. They have denied that but I can't for the life of me understand when you have so many customers they like the product. I remember one of the Tide people saying it was because they couldn't get suppliers to buy it or something like that. This is the most frustrating situation I have ever gone through in my life but I don't think anything we "the public" says will get them to bring it back. I just wish we could get an honest answer...

Inappropriate? We know that you monitor this forum - how about it tide - why did you discontinue something so loved and obviously so missed? I haven't seen this kind of begging for a product to be brought back.....ever!
-
Inappropriate?Dixie, I checked with Tide (those liars) and they said the retailers were the ones that didn't want the product. Then I checked with some of the retailers and they said it wasn't true. They said Tide had made the decision to discontinue Simple Pleasures. So the blame goes back and forth and we will never really know why it was discontinued. It probably had to due with the cost for the lavendar and vanilla oils. So Tide had to trump up a blame and say the retailer didn't want it in order to justify them taking it off the market.
I’m sad and I hate P&G

Inappropriate?I just wish they would realize how they have affected alot of families. I have read so many positive things from consumers about this product. I went into my storage closet to pull out some of my favorite summer clothes about a month ago and the closet smelled so beautiful with the Simple Pleasures. If people are willing to buy it on Ebay at auction prices then I just am in shock that they don't see a demand there. We have even suggested they carry it online and we would purchase it that way. No one listens from that company...they just do not care. And I can never believe they do.

Inappropriate?All,
First of all, please keep this a family friendly site. I fully appreciate your frustration, I too loved Simple Pleasures so as a member of the Tide team you can imagine how upset I was that it was discontinued but it upsets me to read some of the language being used and accusations being issued.
Unfortunately due to the number of posts on this topic the system automatically archives. If you were able to read back to the beginning you would know the full story....so here it goes:
About 18months ago retailers stopped ordering as much Simple Pleasures, some stores stopped ordering completely. They have limited shelf space and tend to stock the most popular items....there just wasn't as much demand from the end consumer for this product as there was for others.
As you can imagine we have manufacturing facilities that produce many different types of detergent, to run them efficiently we have to produce a certain amount of detergent otherwise costs go up.
With reducing orders and eventually the majority of retailers discontinuing the product, we had to make a call to discontinue it completely from production.
At that point this forum became very active; I personally worked to see if we could produce it in a smaller plant and perhaps just sell online. Unfortunately we were unable to find a production and retail model that would work.
Believe me, we do listen and we do care. I continue to bring up Tide Simple Pleasures on a regular basis and we will always seek to find ways to bring it back. There are many factors that you have to consider in the supply chain so unfortunately it isn't just as simple as turning the production line on.
What I will tell you is that Tide with a touch of Downy Lavender is almost the identical scent. The perfumers that worked on that also worked on Tide Simple Pleasures. I switched to that detergent when I ran out if Tide Simple Pleasures.
Hope this helps & again i'm sorry for your frustration.
Thanks,
Mandy -
Well I find that very hard to believe! There is no way I am going to believe the demand went down. I along with many other people I know only used Simple Pleasures. I don't want to really get into because it's like beating a dead horse, I know it's gone for good. Also the touch of downy lavender isn't even close not even similar at all! If it was there would be no issue! -

Inappropriate?Mandy, I will disagree with you on two points. You said that "Tide with a touch of Downy Lavender is almost the identical scent." NO it is not. I've tried it and it doesn't even begin to come close to Simple Pleasures. The scent doesn't last as long as Simple Pleasures and does NOT smell as good. They are two different scents. Also, I have checked with several retailers and they said it was not them who stopped ordering the Simple Pleasures. They tried to order it and was told it was being discontinued by P&G. So I don't know who lied to you and said it was the retailers who didn't want the product. I therefore, have chosen not to buy anything from P&G again. I know that one person not buying P&G products will not affect the company at all. At least I have chosen to discontinue P&G myself since P&G discontinued me by discontinuing the laundry detergent I loved and relied upon.
I’m disappointed in P&G

I have given up on Tide. I am not as pleased with the replacement, but if Tide doesn't care about me, I don't care about Proctor & Gamble. -
I agree with Doria. The "new" Downny WIth a touch of Lavendar...IS NOT EVEN CLOSE to the same as Simple Pleasures Lavendar & Vanilla. In fact it actually STINKS! I do understand what Mandy says as I have been following all these discussions since I started this topic approximately 18 months ago, and I do truly beleive that the powers that be at Tide have been lying to her as well and unfortunately made her to "face" to this whole big mess. The demand was and IS still there for this product. I too have done my homework and spoken to distribution managers at several local chains including Savemart, Nob Hill/Raleys and CVS. I was told the same things that Doria heard, they wanted to order the product and were informed by Tide it was being discontinued therefore no longer available for order. As I stated repeatedly, I will no longer purchase anything made by P&G and I BEG OF EVERYONE TO DO THE SAME.
Maybe one day, the decision makers at the company will realize we the customers are not as stupid as they think and we can all clearly see the the smoke been blown up our you know whats. -
Inappropriate?I disagree with Mandy on all points. Unfortunately, she's the whipping boy of this thread and must try to placate us. There is nothing she can do other than merge our topics. The bottom line is: IF TIDE CAN MAKE A LAVENDER SCENT WHY CAN THEY NOT MAKE A VANILLA LAVENDER SCENT. That is a rhetorical statement, the answer is obvious. P&G is run much like the federal government, for whom I worked in a Cabinet level position for 15 years, by inexperienced people who got their jobs through "who they know", not what they know. That's it. I'm done. If this is not considered family-caliber reading then please post articles from Hustler.
I’m utterly disgusted by this "democracy" we fight for.

Inappropriate?UNFORTUNATLY I can NOT totally Boycott PG as I am (and have been since a child) allergic to ANYTHING else but Tide!! I have like 8 bottles and I use them Sparingly!! I would Def buy online if offered....... I guess this is what happens when you get TOO BIG FOR YOUR BRITCHES as my grandparents would say!
I’m am AGGRAVATED that Companies EGO'S get TOO BIG to fit in their HEADS!!!

Inappropriate?this is crazy!! i work for home depot who cares pg products and one of the reps came in, i asked her and she said it was because the demand went down (which i doubt!) and that you can find at certain stores and that she just went an restocked the product at target. she said NOT all targets carry it but if you look hard enough you can find it! so here i go on a hunt! im almost out of my 2x concentrated bottle. screw the 2x concentrated give me the big bottles!!!!!!
I’m conffooosed!

Inappropriate?I have bought several bottles on ebay lately. The seller is still selling some. They have been reliable and it is the real stuff and shipped nicely.

Inappropriate?I found a replacement and it's not a P&G product. I'm happy.
If any of you have a Walgreen's or a store that sells "Sun Burst" detergent, they have one that's called Sunsational Scents Vanilla Lavender and it only costs $4.99 for a 3.65 qt 75 load bottle and it's also 2X double concentrated. It smells just like the Tide Simple Pleasures that was discontinued. Here's the link for the info: http://sundetergent.com/laundry_vanil... or http://sundetergent.com/
I’m very very happy now.

Thank you so much Doria for this info. Will check it out asap... -
Inappropriate?Your welcome. I just did 3 loads of laundry with Sunsational Vanilla Lavender and used the Downy Simple Pleasures fabric softner and it is wonderful. I'm going to try the Cuddlesoft Vanilla Lavender fabric softner that goes with the Sunsational Vanilla Lavender and see what kind of smell that one is. Then I can get away from P&G all together.
I’m very very happy now.
